In part 1 of our 5-part series to kickstart the year, I share four books to get your mind right and set you up for success in 2025.

I am a lifelong bookworm and love a good self-help book that inspires me to move to greater heights. With new years come new hopes to live life more fully and accomplish new or abandoned goals. This month, we are starting a five-part series to help you charge up for the new year. Studies show that “88% of people who set New Year resolutions fail within the first two weeks”! While the reason for falling short varies from person to person, having the right mindset is critical to making sure you are successful. As you are solidifying your goals for the year and the glue is drying on your new vision board, here are four books to help you refresh your mindset and slay your goals in 2025!
In this book, Jamie takes you on a transformative journey to help you recognize that you, yes Y-O-U, are worthy of all that life has to offer. What I love most about this book is Jamie’s own transparency – sharing personal stories and discussions with others that are relatable to the reader – and her communication style. Throughout the book, you will uncover the importance of knowing your self-worth; distinguish self-worth, self-confidence, and self-esteem; and shatter the toxic inner beliefs and behaviors that are preventing you from stepping into the best life that God has for you. She includes helpful exercises to put your learnings into practice. If you find that you are not going after your goals or partaking in destructive behaviors once you have accomplished them, then this book will be an excellent read. As a bonus, check out her show, The Jamie Kern Lima Show. It is sure to inspire you on your journey to owning your worthiness and stepping into your purpose.
If you are looking for a no-nonsense approach to getting your mind right, then this book is for you. Jen Sincero does not hold back as she talks through the limiting beliefs circulating in our subconscious and preventing us from being our best selves. With funny quips and straightforward exercises, this book is a great way to manifest the life that you truly want while having several laughs along the way. What we love most about this book is that Jen does not hold back in her directness with the reader. She tells it like it is and speaks from a place of knowingness having navigated her own journey to reclaiming her life.
To my entrepreneurial girlies, this book is a MUST read! Rachel delivers an excellent guide to leveling up your business and she is not accepting any excuses. As a black woman who built her business from the ground up, she is familiar with the many challenges that women face on their entrepreneurial paths, and she is committed to changing the narrative. What I love about this book is not only Rachel’s transparency into her own experiences overcoming the roadblocks facing women entrepreneurs, but also her research-backed recommendations! We love when authors bring the receipts and Rachel delivers every time. Why wouldn’t she? She is a boss! Be sure to join her Hello Seven Club mailing list and check out the Hello Seven podcast for weekly advice on growing your business. You can thank me later. As Rachel would say, “let’s get this shmoney”!
I enjoy pulling this one off my digital shelf from time to time as a reminder to get out of my own way and go after what I want: in other words, say yes! Shonda walks readers through her journey of changing her life over the course of a year by saying yes to every opportunity that comes her way. If you often say no before thoroughly considering an opportunity or out of fear after listing an endless number of what-ifs, then this book is for you. Shonda’s story will inspire you to reframe your mind about what is possible for your life and what you are truly capable of. As we step into a new year, what will you start saying yes to? After all, you cannot start experiencing the life you want without changing your life as it is today. Fully commit and make 2025 your best year.
Cheers to the new year!
